PSU Art Team
The Plemmons Student Union employs several students on the PSU Art Team: the Looking Glass Gallery Curator, the Art Collections Manager, and the Art Assistant (formerly known as the Preparator). These students are responsible for advancing the arts in the facility, including the operations of the gallery and the acquisition and maintenance of our permanent art collections. Emma Hancock
Art Collections and Looking Glass Gallery Manager
Emma is a Senior at Appalachian State, majoring in Art and Visual Culture with a concentration in Art History and a minor in Religious Studies. Previously, Emma received her Associates from University of Delaware while majoring in Psychology. She is currently in the Honors College with a focus on Ancient Near East material culture, working towards attending graduate school. She is an active member of the Pagan Club, and has completed her first poetry book getting back to the point. After graduation, Emma aspires to continue her education, working towards becoming a professor and researcher in her field of Ancient Near East Art History.
Sandy Zufall
Marketing Coordinator
Sandy is a junior Studio Art major with a concentration in Metalsmithing and Jewelry Design. She has a passion for for creating functional and beautiful objects that incorporate symbolic imagery, and she plans to study ceramics alongside her metalsmithing practice. As Marketing Coordinator for the Looking Glass Gallery, she is responsible for developing and publicizing promotional materials, photographing acquisitions, and assisting with exhibition planning and installation. She hopes to increase local awareness of the gallery’s exhibitions, events, and featured artists. She’s excited by the opportunity to foster community engagement through the arts and promote the value of creative expression.
Brennan Hazle
Curator
Brennan Hazle is a junior majoring in Arts Management with minors in Nonprofit Management and Studio Arts. He is passionate about making the arts accessible to everyone, and through his role as gallery curator, he hopes to strengthen their commitment to community engagement. He believes it is immensely valuable to engage Appalachian State’s student body with art in ways that foster critical thinking and encourage reflection on the communities around them. His goal is to provide exhibitions that are both thought-provoking and inclusive, enriching the experiences of the campus and local community. After graduation, he plans to pursue a career in public arts programming with a focus on youth engagement.
